Donate Now – Because Every Life Deserves Dignity

It’s easy to rally around causes that celebrate new beginnings — helping babies take their first steps, empowering the young to dream, or supporting entrepreneurs building the future. These stories sparkle with hope and promise.

But what about the stories that don’t make the headlines — the quiet, fragile ones of the old, the sick, and the frail? They are the hands that once built our cities, taught our children, grew our food, and held our communities together.

Now, in their final chapter, they deserve the same love and care they once gave so freely. At St Bernard’s, we believe no one should face life’s final journey alone. Caring for them is not about looking back — it’s about honouring the very foundation of who we are as a society.

Because true compassion is not only found in beginnings, but in the way we walk with someone until the end — gently, with dignity, and with love.

Your Gift Brings Comfort, Dignity, and Hope

When you give, you’re doing more than donating money — you’re bringing light, peace, and care into someone’s life. Your gift helps us:

  • Bring pain relief and comfort to patients in their final days.
  • Offer emotional and spiritual support to families in grief.
  • Equip nurses and caregivers with specialised palliative training.
  • Extend care to homes of patients who cannot afford it.

Every contribution — big or small — helps us keep providing professional, compassionate care to those who need it most, regardless of their financial situation.

Help us bring comfort, dignity, and love to those who need it most. Because compassion doesn't end — it simply comes full circle.

Together, We Can Make Sure No One Is Forgotten

In a world that celebrates beginnings, let’s be the ones who also protect the endings — with grace, with kindness, and with humanity.

Your generosity helps us ensure that every person we serve is seen, heard, and cared for — right to the very end.

Donate Now

Here us bring comfort, dignity, and love to those who need it most. Because compassion doesn’t end — it simply comes full circle.

Your donations, whether single, monthly, or annual, will help to secure the future of all elements, meaning that we will continue to provide the best petitions and hospice care for everyone who needs us now and for generations to come, from the smallest continuous can move in difference.

Together, we can make sure no one is forgotten — and that every life ends with the same love and dignity it began with.

The CEO

To whom it may concern,

I write this email a bit late, but I believe rather late than never. The dust has finally started settling after my mom’s death, and I am coming up for air again.

I want to take this opportunity to communicate my heartfelt thanks and absolute gratitude to Hospice for the amazing special care that your Professional Nurse has taken in the last few weeks of my mom’s life. She has been an absolute rock for us to lean on, an amazing support in times of need, and a comfort that goes wayyyy behind the call of duty, just because of the wonderful, caring, compassionate person that she is.

Words cannot describe what she has meant for my mom, Hannatjie van Wyk from Gonubie, as well as my sister Tania and myself. She has shared her wisdom, insight, understanding, knowledge with such compassion and understanding, that I was left speechless at the selfless care that she took, the hard work that she does and the wisdom to speak into every situation, which made us all feel that we are in the absolute best hands possible.

On this earth we rarely encounter someone who makes you wonder, “Is this person human, or is this person an angel in disguise?”

Well, I have decided to rest in knowing that I will never know…but whether she is, or she isn’t, I thank God for the Sr and her team of amazing carers who works alongside her…I don’t think we would have made it through all of this without the two of them, without losing our heads or had our hearts broken from sorrow and feeling utterly helpless if it hadn’t been for their intervention. I kept on telling other people about the Sr and the discussion usually ended with “she is truly worth her weight in gold”.

I thank you for your time in reading this, and again I say…. THANK YOU!

You’ve been absolutely amazing!

May you have a wonderful day!

Kind regards,

Karen Kriek

(daughter of Hannatjie van Wyk)
