This year’s annual Copper Drive was once again well supported with twenty three schools participating with schools as far afield as Kidds Beach participating and collecting coins to fill our 5 litre bottles.
The Copper Drive is run yearly in the second school term to collect much needed funds for our Cancer patient’s as we receive no funding for these patients. Our core business is palliative care which is done in the privacy of our patient’s homes. We are often asked what palliative care is. It is simply the management of pain and other distressing symptoms associated with any life-threatening or life-limiting illness, thus enhancing the quality of life that may positively influence the course of the illness.
In total 219, 5 litre bottles were delivered to various schools on the 24 April 2017 and collected on the 28 June 2017. Our volunteer team counted literally every day for eight weeks and the final grand total collected towards Home Based Palliative Care and Support for our Cancer patients both adult and children was a staggering amount of R46,696.69. Well done to all the schools that supported us this year! Stirling was the top school once again and brought in an amazing amount of R10,974.80, well done. Each school in our eyes is a winner and thank you for supporting a very worthy cause.
A hamper of Pilot Pens and Stationery was donated by Stationers and Branding in Vincent to the value of R700.00 to Stirling Primary School. Thank you to all Learners, Principals, Teachers, Parents and Guardians who made the Copper Drive once again a success story.
