It’s a wrap ? Where did the time go !
It is with a heart full of gratitude, and a rather tired mind, that I write this letter to you as we face the end of the 2019 calendar year.
On behalf of St Bernard’s Hospice staff and beneficiaries, I want to say thank you to all our funders, friends and supporters who, despite economic challenges, continue to recognise the importance of Palliative and Hospice care for our community – and so help to sustain our vital services.
Our Patient Care staff remain forever busy as we serve our, on average, 250 – 350 patients and household members each month. Their work being made possible by our Fundraising Team and “engine room” – where good governance and efficient systems are always something we strive to uphold.
It is also at this time of the year that we reflect on the many lives that were lost to life-threatening illnesses, and think of the families who will be spending their first Christmas without a special someone with them. Each person’s grief journey is as unique as fingerprints.
It is our absolute privilege to journey with people during some of their most challenging times, whether they are a patient or a family member. Our Staff lives are touched by their patients and families as much as they touch the lives of those under their care.
Thank you for helping us to bring hope to so many homes, and dignity to so many people. We forever remain indebted to the generosity of our funders and friends.
I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas filled with love, joy and peace. I look forward to sharing the next year with you, and seeing how our collective efforts bear fruit, as we continue to serve our Buffalo City Community and ensuring Palliative Care for All.
