2018 ANNUAL SCHOOLS COPPER DRIVE
This year’s annual Schools Copper Drive was once again well supported with twenty-two schools participating with the aim of filling 5 litre bottles with as many coppers, coins and notes as possible.
The Copper Drive is run yearly in the second school term to collect much needed funds for our Cancer patient’s as we receive no funding for these patients. Our core business is palliative care which is done in the privacy of our patient’s homes. We are often asked what palliative care is? It is simply the management of pain and other distressing symptoms associated with any life-threatening or life-limiting illness, thus enhancing the quality of life that may positively influence the course of the illness.
In total 285, 5 litre bottles were delivered to schools who wished to participate on the 09 April 2018 and collected on the 20 and 21 June 2018. Our amazing team of volunteer’s counted literally every week day for eight weeks and the final grand total collected and banked was R59,895.95, with one school still outstanding as they are only doing the Copper Drive in the third term.
Stirling Primary School was the top school once again and brought in a staggering amount of R16,954.80, well done. The runner up this year was Kidds Beach Primary School and they brought in an amazing amount of R7,869.70 and the top class in their school collected 37.9 kgs of copper and silver. Each school in our eyes is a winner and thank you for supporting a very worthy cause it is highly appreciated.
Harry’s Printers kindly donated a Hot or Cold Laminator to the value of +- R995.00, which will be handed over to Stirling Primary School.
Thank you to all Learners, Principals, Teachers, Parents and Guardians who made the 2018 Copper Drive such a success story.
